Dr. Jayanth S Sampath is a distinguished Senior Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in the treatment of bone and joint conditions in children from birth to 18 years. With extensive expertise in managing cerebral palsy, clubfoot, complex limb deformities, muscular dystrophy, neuropathy, and pediatric fractures, he provides comprehensive orthopedic care tailored to young patients.
Dr. Jayanth’s medical journey began at Madras Medical College, where he graduated in 1994. He pursued advanced training in orthopedic surgery in the United Kingdom and the United States, completing two clinical fellowships in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Alfred I Dupont Hospital for Children, USA, and Manchester Children’s Hospital, UK. In 2004, he earned the prestigious FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) and UK Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST). He then served as a Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, maintaining a thriving clinical practice before returning to India in 2010.
Passionate about innovation and research, Dr. Jayanth founded the Bangalore Institute of Movement Research and Analysis (BIMRA) in 2013, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to 3D walking and movement analysis. This institute is a crucial resource for orthopedic surgeons across India, aiding in precise diagnosis and treatment planning for children with complex walking disorders. It also offers advanced sports injury assessments through its cutting-edge 3D GAIT system—the only one of its kind in Asia.
He also maintains outreach services in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Cerebral Palsy in the 4 southern states of India. He heads the multi-disciplinary clinic for cerebral palsy and complex disabilities at Pragati, a comprehensive care centre for children with cerebral palsy.
His commitment to medical education, research, and innovation is evident in his numerous international publications, conference presentations, and book contributions. As the Chief Editor of the International Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, he continues to contribute to the advancement of pediatric orthopedic care.
Dr. Jayanth is an esteemed member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of India, Bangalore Orthopedic Society, Karnataka Orthopedic Association, and the Indian Orthopedic Society (IOS UK).
